Goodbye and Good Luck, Daschles!

In case you need any further background on WHY Tom Daschle withdrew as the HHS nominee, here's Glenn Greenwald's Sunday post from Salon.com.

I especially loved the quote from Rolling Stone's Matt Taibi:
In Washington there are whores and there are whores, and then there is Tom Daschle. Tom Daschle would suck off a corpse for a cheeseburger.

  2. thanks for this one, m.e. though i should not have read greenwald just before bedtime. both woke me up with its colorful outrage and made me a bit queasy.

    candide-like, i noted to my family, maybe this means we could get someone into HHS who at least sees single-payer health care as a viable option. i dream.

    naomi: i wish someone would explain to me in words i can understand exactly what "single-payer" means. cuz it seems we wind up paying for it ourselves now--even with "insurance" (for which we also pay ourselves).
