As an Ohioan born and bred, I am ashamed of John Boehner. That said, he is from southern Ohio and that's a different kettle of fish from me in NE Ohio. There's a standing joke here in the Buckeye State that you can tell a Southern Ohioan from a Northern Ohioan the minute they open their mouth -- and not just by their accent if you talk politics. (I happen to be bilingual because my daddy was born in SW Ohio and grew up in central Ohio. LOL)
I am seriously and profoundly baffled by how people like these shallowly cynical Republican vermin can be taken seriously by anybody, let alone seriously enough to do the things that their myrmidons are doing.
That's not an exaggeration, or hyperbole, or disingenuous partisanship. I really, honestly, don't understand.
And it frightens me more than anything has in my 63 years except for the Cuban "missile crisis," when I was a teenager afraid of vaporization 20 minutes from any "now."
"Boner" is a good name for him and his ilk, as long as we can joke about them, but I really can't enjoy the joke.
I see brown shirts, yellow stars, broken glass across our landscape. As Eric Andersen sang a decade ago about the skinhead surge in Europe,
"Shiny helmets in the shadows, Those trains that left at night, Those hiding in the cellars, Those eyes afraid of light...
"Something neath the border's poured poison in the well. The creature has uncoiled and is crawling up from hell."
Kay: the orangeman is from OHIO?? good gravy. when we lived in ND, there were lots of folks who belonged to the John Birch society. i never really figured what that was all about, but they're still around and multiplying! somehow, though, i've never associated wing nuts with fake tans! has he got a bad liver? Sherwood...thank god you don't live in dc,or you'd be scared spitless when you see these people and hear them talking. they don't seem to realize they could be arrested for what they're saying...you'd be amazed at what comes out of their mouths.
That video is priceless!!!!

The creature has uncoiled, and I am afraid.

So why aren't they arrested?
ReplyDeleteShouting "fire" in a crowded theater is actually benign relative to what these barbarians are doing -- they're advocating assassination, nothing less.
Oh hell!!! They had a rally here!!! I didn't go. I would have gotten busted!
