Found this wonderful
blog --homeofthebudds--on my travels this a.m. The post is "do bees sleep?" Check out the amazing pictures. One of the local blog readers said the bees are not asleep, they're drunk. I dunno anything at all about bees sleeping out of the hive at night, but I really love this. The local blogger who posted this on our town website said she finds sleeping bees in her flowers every morning!
I visited the blog and the photos are incredible. The blogger has the mother of macro lenses. The photography is marvelous.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if the bees are high on nectar or if they were there all night, but they are certainly 'out of it.'
Darlene: U know wot crossed my mind? Maybe this is related to the hive death phenomenon. Maybe the bees are sick....and can't get home per usual. I agree they could be intoxicated--but not from nectar--from toxins. Sprays, etc.???
