TGIF

Got the latest update on Best in Blogs from SixApart this ayem.   And while snooping around, I found this gem on Foodinista (one of the top 10 food blogs of the Best in Blogs):

http://thefoodinista.wordpress.com/2010/07/19/preschool-packed-lunch-week-in-review

This may be too late for you, or maybe you have found it....but these are the BEST preschool lunches
I've ever seen!!  in fact, I think this would make fabulous DIET lunches for fat old folks like me!!

  1. Among The Foodinista's appealing ways with preschooler/toddler food is using animal-shaped ice cream molds that she says she got at Target. Since Chez XE is boycotting Target for their abominable $150,000 contribution to some right-wing candidate for MN governor, I have researched and found another supplier of the very molds she uses: Amazon.com, which sells Tovolo Farmyard Ice Cream Sandwich Molds for a mere $11.95 per set of 3 (chicken, pig, cow) plus shipping. And the postperson will bring them right to your door. No need to DRIVE and make yourself crazy.

  3. Kay: I like the veggie "littles," which she got at Whole Foods. Reminds me...I have to go to Trader Joe's and get some frozen artichoke hearts. Love 'em!!

Love the heart-shaped sandwich and the animal shapes for such healthy foods! If I was a kid with a PBJ, I'd wanna trade for one myself!

  5. Thanks for the kind words re the post! And I, too, am boycotting Target - this was written before I was aware of the political donations. So glad you found the shapes on Amazon.

Great blog! Glad to have discovered you!

  6. linda....the sandwiches we all fought to trade for were mary eide's, whose mother made her brown sugar sandwiches on white bread. i wonder if her mother had that in mind when she made them???

foodinista: Thanks for the kind words to you, too. i love your blog.

Pix are lovely, but this sure puts my lunch making skills to shame. I think I would have to put my kid in a different pre-school. Nothing worse'n a two-year-old wanting a different mommy.
